If there is a constant in this world, there will always be people who are looking for ways to make more money. A lot of people go in to day trading stocks. Unfortunately, most people turn to blue chip stocks thinking that they are going to strike it rich, but if that's your strategy, get ready to wait for a really LONG time.
I suppose if you had a lot of money, then that's a different story. Day trading large cap stocks require a lot of capital to make it worthwhile. When it comes to high cap stocks, $5000 may only be enough for you to purchase 100 shares of one stock. Don't expect a big pay day, when you can only afford to buy 100 shares. But with $5000, you can get a very diversified day trading portfolio with penny stocks.
If you are going to day trade a myriad of large cap stocks, you are going to need tens, maybe hundreds, of thousands of dollars. Obviously, the bigger the portfolio, the more money you are going to need.
But more importantly, penny stock day trading obviously offers more potential. It's just basic math.
Large cap stocks - Investing more money - Less shares - Less potential.
Penny stocks - Investing less money - More shares - More potential.
It's really not much of a comparison, is it?
That's what makes these kind of stocks so favorable to the Average Joe who is just getting into the market. I know that's why I was so attracted to it, when I first got into the stock market.
